GREETINGS FROM SWITZERLAND!!!
On July 30th we left for the Copenhagen airport from our lil air bnb at the ripe hour of 7am and upon arriving to the airport (but after getting through security) we found our flight had been “cancelled” no warning or solution just cancelled. SO! We got rescheduled for a 430pm flight and spent the entire day playing pokemon go in the airport. Needless to say I earned the “visited 100 pokestops” medal during those hours waiting for our flight :)) Highly recommend the copenhagen airport for getting stuck waiting for a flight as well as playing pokemon go.
When we got to switzerland it was about 6pm and we conveniently made it to the festival called blue balls which had a ton of food carts, live music, and random vendors along the lake. At the end of the night, Mike and I explored the old town and ran into a couple from Romania who were traveling around Europe. It was fun to see the city alive and poppin with people from all walks of life, though this energy calmed down in the days following the festival.
On the second day, we went to do touristy things. Mike and I explored the town on our own time and went to walk the Musegg Wall which is a sort of medieval fortress divider that probably kept people out of the city in the old days (see photos below – there were great views of the city!). We had a wonderful dinner later that night at a pasta place called “la terrazza”. They had subpar service, a great outdoor seating experience over the lake, and amazing pasta, would recommend.
The last day (Swiss national day!!) we took a trip to Interlaken where they had a super cute parade with traditional swiss people dressed in lederhosen! There were firecrackers everywhere and everyone seemed to be in a cheerful mood. We picked one super touristy thing to do which was ride the train up to the summit of Harder Kulm (See photos below). It was the most beautiful thing, miles and miles full of lush, pristine landscape. After tons of pictures, tourists, and judging the people taking photos of the landscape with their selfie sticks, we came back to the town and I picked up a free swiss flag!! Took pics with it like a true tourist and somehow it made it to the airport with us the next day.
Check out my photos below if you want to see the super-awesome picturesque Switzerland.
